FoD Submission on the Marine Park

The primary purpose of this submission is to present the Marine Parks Authority with a review of what scientific information there is available on the natural values of the Murramarang coast and Durras Lake. The Friends of Durras (FoD) have gathered this information over the twenty years since the organisation's formation, and believe it may prove useful when the zoning plan for the Batemans Marine Park is being formulated. The Batemans Marine Park continues to be opposed by certain sectors of the community. Many of the opponents claim that there is insufficient science to warrant the Park's creation in the first instance, and from that it can be assumed they believe there is insufficient science on which to base a zoning plan. This submission points out the very high conservation values along the Murramarang coast and in Durras Lake.
